 The clinical practice of tomorrow

SIT developed the LIAC HWL FLASH, the first IOeRT FLASH device designed to bring FLASH Radiation Therapy to clinical applications.

The system will be able to operate in three different modalities: CONV IOeRT, FLASH RT clinical mode, FLASH RT research mode.

Thanks to its excellent radiation protection properties, it can be used in any operating room without any additional shielding.

LIAC HWL FLASH has been designed according to all the safety standards of a CE-marked medical device.

SIT partner of the project “W-SHIELD"

SIT is one of the partners of the project W-SHIELD whose primary objective is the design of thin and flexible cosmic radiation shieldings to be used by people, on materials and tools in the outer space. Such shieldings will be designed by using hybrid tungsten polymeric dust. The project focuses on the design of these shieldings with advanced manufacturing techniques, such as the electrospinning and 3D printing.

SIT in quality of manufacturer of linear medical accelerators for radiation therapy is also responsible for the implementation of preliminary studies related to the radioprotection plan. The final product that will be realized within the W-SHIELD project can find a natural application both in the clinical and radiation oncology practice and in the outer space. For SIT this means a further optimization in the manufacturing of its devices and the development of new smart accessories.

W-SHIELD belongs to the project “LAerospaZIO” co-financed by the UE.
