A new promising model has been developed by Dr. Fabio di Martino and his team adding a new solution to the technological portfolio for the dosimetric characterization of UHDR devices. In our previous posts we described two technological solutions for UHDR dosimetry: the ultra-thin ionization chamber, mainly studied and developed by F. Gomez Rodriguez and the Flash diamond dosimeter, developed by M. Marinelli and G. Verona Rinati et al. The work made by Dr. di Martino et al., describes a new theoretical approach to UHDR and UHDP measurements by means of a modified gas chamber: the ALLS chambers. Theory and conceptual design discussed in the manuscript show how to realize a gas chamber capable of measuring dose per pulse value up to 40 Gy delivered in few microseconds. ALLS chambers are not only a theoretical model, and the first prototypes are currently under test; we cannot wait to read further papers on the development of this interesting technology!
