The beautiful verses of the great Turkish poet Nazim Hikmet were chosen by Fondazione Symbola and Enel to underline the centrality of the human aspect in the introduction of the new report on Italian excellences.

A set of fundamental values that are also founding for us at SIT who, together with talented doctors and researchers, are at the forefront of the battle against cancer every day.

This year’s report, dedicated to the field of life sciences, presents a selection of 100 success stories after examining over 300 cases from every region in Italy.

No need to say how proud we are to have been included within these 100 Italian fellow companies, an incredible bunch of talents who have contributed to bringing Italy, its industry and its humanity to the highest peaks in Europe and the world.

As highlighted in the report, Italy is among the top countries in Europe in terms of pharmaceutical and technological production, along with Germany and ahead of France, the United Kingdom and Spain.

This recognition adds to what we are collecting on the ground, where year after year, installation after installation and, success after success with patients, we have built a reputation around the world that sees us as the leading experts in the field of electron-based solution in cancer treatment.

“100 Italian Life Science Stories” refers to life sciences as a broader concept than medical sciences: it pays attention to the human being in its entirety, including aspects that aren’t strictly related to health like quality of life, emphasizing even in the report’s title the supreme value that is life. And, once again, we feel very close to this way of thinking about medical care. Our technological innovations are functional to the care of the patient who must be treated in a caring way. Take, as an example, FLASH Radiation Therapy: it has turned out to be a topic of great interest among the scientific community. We at SIT have been working hard on this revolutionary therapeutic option, capable of changing the future of cancer care and have developed technologies capable of targeting cancerous tissues while sparing healthy ones with a consequent evident improvement in the patient’s quality of life, already in the short term.

Our emblematic story is just one among the hundred cases presented in the report. They confirm the exceptionality of Italy’s economy, research, and innovation in the field of life science, driven by its extraordinary attention to humans and life.
